Comfy every day outfit that every girl needs.

Every girl has their favorite comfy pair of yoga pants. Or sweats. Something that they don’t have to calculate before putting on. Something to run errands in and still look chic. Something that is comfy yet fashionable and flattering. Something comfy to wear to go to a massage or to throw on with some black strappy heels to go out at night. This is why I love this outfit.

These lux comfy joggers are made of the softest material and they feel like something you would want to go to bed in. They also have these cute mesh lines on the thigh that are see through that show a little bit of skin.

The tank is made of the same soft material and it also has that sexy mesh see through in the back. You can wear a half bra or a sports bra underneath like I’m wearing here.

I tend to like solid color shoes and I like to wear a pop of color on my feet when I’m wearing all black. I fell in love with these pink / blush suede adidas. Perfect to wear with this outfit. Sometimes I still wear my white and green stan smiths with this.

Now I can put on my sunnies and I’m ready to go.

This is really a year round type of outfit [well it depends where you live but I live in Sunny SoCal ūüôā ] When it’s a little more chilly you can throw on the matching sweatshirt which is also see through at the top baring your d√©colletage and part of your arms.

Stay comfy my friends.

Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic.. A yearly tradition

This past weekend I joined my friends for our yearly tradition of attending the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic match at Will Rogers State Park in LA (actual location is the Pacific Palisades). This event happens in New York and LA but the one in New York happens earlier in the summer around June.

This is one of my most favorite events because everyone gets all dressed up in their fanciest attire and hats to attend. The men come in short suits, pant suits, ties and bow ties. I love watching the fashion from year to year and I always have my favorites each time. This year my fave would have to be fashion blogger Julie Sarinana of Sincerely Jules:

While drinking champagne, mingling and waiting for the polo match to start, you can take pictures in the photo booth or other props they set up (do this early before long lines and while you still look good). There are a few fun games you can play too, a couple that come to mind are life size Jenga or checkers.

vc polo classic photobooth

There is general admission where tickets start at $75 or a fast pass option in order to avoid the lines for $135. If you want the intimate Rosé Garden experience on the other side of the field you can mingle with models, fashion bloggers and celebs such as Mandy Moore, Isla Fisher, Vanessa Hudgens and Rachel Zoe for $400 per person. It includes one bottle of rosé , a Wolfgang Puck lunchbox and access to purchase additional champagne. It is a little more fancy on that side. The shuttle buses are separate from general admission buses. How cute is this photo of Rachel Zoe and her son Kaius?

The champagne options are¬†Veuve Clicquot yellow label¬†or ros√© by the bottle or by the glass. They also have the super large “La Grande Dame” bottle.

This year they had something new they were offering, the Veuve Clicquot “Rich” which they served with thinly sliced cucumbers and the Veuve Clicquot Ros√© served with lime swirls inside. The cucumber one was so fresh and delish!

In the middle of the match a fun part is to walk out onto the field and stomp the divots (holes of grass and dirt torn up by horse hooves). You can walk up to the middle of the field and socialize with people on either side (but the people holding the rope in the middle prevents you from crossing. LOL)

Tips if you plan to join this fun event next year:

1. Buy early before prices go up, American Express actually offers pre-sale tickets in advance. Otherwise, you can go to the Veuve Clicquot website. Tickets sell out and they are not for purchase at the event.

2. If you bought GA, come early to claim your space. Grab a picnic table and your spot on the hill (below the tables) with a blanket before all of the space is gone (it fills up quickly).

3. Leave at 4pm or wait in a super long line of hundreds of intoxicated people pushing and shoving to get to a shuttle bus (if you have fast pass you can skip the line). Unfortunately taking the shuttle is the only way to leave and it takes you to the location it picks everyone up from (no ubers, drop offs or pick ups allowed at the park, there is no getting around this).

4. Feel free to bring food and snacks and unsealed water bottles and if you don’t want to carry all of that, no worries you can eat at one of the many food trucks. We had lobster rolls and shrimp tacos ūüôā

That’s it! Hope to see you all next year! Check out some of the #Clicquotstyle:

Comfy Jeans

There are lots of jean brand faves I have at the moment. But I wanted to share these ones with you. I’ve been wearing this brand for quite some time.

The stiletto Jean by Current Elliott. It is quite flattering on the figure and they are very comfortable. I like that they don’t go down all the way to the bottom of the ankle so you can have more emphasis on the shoe.

Although this color isn’t available anymore they come in a wide range of colors¬†like this beautiful¬†mulberry¬†color and also this rich¬†army green¬†color for fall. Click on the desired color you want to see the price, as they vary. I’m also in love with the “light grey destroy¬†and the ‘army green destroy” I have also found a few other colors that are a little less costly¬†and some that are on sale (listed below)

Minimal Bathing suits in Venice Beach

There are so many bathing suit lines these days and we are seeing the “minimal” bathing suit becoming more of a trend. Minimal bikinis are¬†barely there thinner tops and bottoms with no padding or lining. Although I wasn’t sure at first how I’d feel in such a “barely there” bathing suit, I actually love it. They are more natural looking and sexier in my opinion. They show a lot more skin.

I had the pleasure of meeting one of the founders of this bathing suit line I’m wearing in Venice Beach. She was visiting from Canada and was very sweet. I opted for the black two piece. The suit is quite comfy and if you like, you can bring the sides higher up on your waist.

Do like those Brazilians do and show off those cheeks! LOL

Tommy Cuellar shot these photos in Venice Beach, a cool place near Santa Monica Beach, California if you’ve never been. There is lots of¬†funky street art, souvenirs and performances on the boardwalk. You can stroll over to Main St. shops and restaurants¬†or Abbot Kinney Blvd. for the same thing but more trendy.

Ciao for now!

Fitness in Pioneer Town

I have been obsessed lately with fitness gear and working out a lot. From circuit training at the park with my boyfriend, to pilates, to yoga, to bootcamps, to lifting at the gym with my trainer friend Sirem, to bar class, to hiking, to you name it. I buy a lot of fitness clothes and love trying new brands and practically live in them. I recently visited Pioneer Town which wasn’t on the agenda but was on the way to Joshua Tree, our destination. ¬†Pioneer Town is in Yucca Valley which is in the Morongo Basin (East of the San Bernadino Mountains and north of Coachella Valley). It is located within the Mojave Desert and in the High Desert region of Southern California. It was a little over a 2 hour drive from Los Angeles. After we got off of the exit, it was a 4 mile scenic drive down Pioneer Town Rd. full of joshua trees, shrubs and the little mountains made of the largest rocks I’ve ever seen.

The town was a live-in Old West motion picture set built in the 1940’s and was a place for actors to live and film. When we arrived it was a ghost town and there was literally no one there.¬†It definitely felt like I was in another time period or in one of the¬†old western movies I grew up watching with my dad. It was an interesting experience. Walking down Main Street you will see a jail, bathhouse, an old bank, a pen with real live chickens inside (you can put a quarter in a machine to get corn kernels to feed them with), livery stables, a saloon and many other western places. It was pretty cool to see. So we decided, why not take some shots here?

Hello chickeeeen!

It was super windy and¬†not hot as I imagined (in fact it was freezing oddly enough, not warm like LA and definitely not 10 degrees warmer as I thought it would be. It¬†totally messed up my blow out, LOL). My hair was a mangled tangly mess but I was like well, it’s a fitness shoot so it will work.

I wore sporty black leggings and a work out bra top. I wear these as regular leggings a lot in addition to working out because they are super comfy. I believe mine are the low rise version. If you purchase these, make sure you wash on the delicate cycle and do not put them in the dryer, it is best to hang dry these (as I do with all my work out gear so they last longer).

My shoes I purchased from my favorite shoe store and I wish they had more. I am obsessed with bright sneaks and completely solid colored ones. These are mens shoes, believe it or not. They also had some bright yellow ones I wish I had bought but it looks like they are still available! Click the link I listed at the bottom of this post.

When you get a chance, you must visit Pioneer Town. I believe the whole set is open on weekends (and the stores / adjacent bar). Right next door¬†is a little Pioneer Town motel which looks super neat. Also within the lot is Pappy & Harriet’s¬†which is should also be on your list to visit. It’s a large BBQ restaurant & bar¬†that was really¬†packed once it opened at night (otherwise I wouldn’t have thought a single soul existed in this town) and it was such a fun place!!! Live music from locals (kind of like a mini concert) and oddly, they feature other singers from around the world and all types of music! When we were there, there was a rapper from China and singers from Sweden, kid singers, adults, you name it. Luckily we got a table right in front, facing the performers. It was an interesting mix of tourists, trendy hipsters and western / southern looking folks. I went the weekend after Coachella so I’m not sure if it is a busy time but they have amazing reviews on yelp and it definitely felt like a popular place.

Welp, that’s it for this post. I hope I have inspired you to work out and also to visit Pioneer Town with friends or your significant other. It will definitely be fun and like nothing you’ve experienced. I plan to go back with my boyfriend. Sadly, I won’t be working out for a while since I am recovering from a complex foot surgery I had a week ago, but luckily I still have some content to post. I will get back at it once I am on my feet.

Y’all have a good day and make sure y’all¬†come back now, ya hear?

Visiting LACMA art museum in my favorite white jeans

These are my all time favorite jeans. Well ok, you caught me, they aren’t exactly jeans. They look like it, but they are actually called “The legging ankle (super skinny ankle).” In today’s world they would be called jeggings (jeans but actually leggings). That might be why they are so soft and stretchy, lightweight and feel like a second skin.

With this look, I am wearing a few of my staple pieces. Pieces I can wear interchangeably with almost anything. I love this cropped black tank and long grey sweater coat I throw on with jeans, leggings, shorts, a dress, even black yoga pants and sneakers.

The coat is warm, light,¬†soft and also very comfortable. The store I got it from is one of my favorite places in West Hollywood, if you’re into fashion, you must go. It is called “The Library” on West 3rd Street. I believe it’s technically Los Angeles but it is the trendy Weho (West Hollywood) area with tons of delicious restaurants, cool fashion shops, juice bars, etc. I love this area and I frequent it quite often as I love all the stores and food choices. I used to live walking distance to there. This store literally has everything I would have hand picked myself from clothes, the hottest sunglasses to accessories. They sometimes have a rack outside with clothes on sale. Check¬†it out if you are ever in the¬†area.

Back to what I’m wearing, on my feet¬†are camel booties, which I love that deep camel color and the richness it brings to the outfit. The clutch ties it all in and matches my shoes although I don’t usually match my shoes and my purse as I’ve mentioned before. This I was ok with since the clutch is leopard print with several different colors. Matching your shoes and purse is in most cases too cookie cutter or too “boring” for me. LOL

So that’s all folks! Invest in these jeggings if you want a nice pair of jeans that are flattering to your curves and yet so comfy. Great for spring, summer and actually year round. Show off that figure of yours and look and feel fabulous! Or use these as motivation to hit the gym, then do that! ūüėÜūüėČ

LOCATION: We shot these photos at LACMA ¬†(Los Angeles County Museum of Art) in Mid-City Los Angeles (known as Miracle Mile or Mid Wilshire). Another cool place to check out if you haven’t been or if you plan to visit¬†LA soon. I am standing in front of “Urban Light” which is a large-scale assemblage sculpture by Chris Burden (2008). It consists of restored cast iron street lamps from the 1920’s & 1930’s. Most of them from the streets of Southern California once upon a time. The lights are solar powered and switch on at dusk. So pretty in person to see day or night. You can come get a day pass to view the art galleries and exhibitions for about $15 (cheaper for seniors and free for kids) and they also have a cafe and good restaurant onsite for food and drinks.

I’m a barbie girl in a barbie world!

Not really.. but who doesn’t want to be a barbie? I had to have this skirt once I saw it.

I paired this skirt with a white collared half top that ties, white ceramic watch and both the sunglasses and faux leather wallet accessories are from Target! They actually paired really well with the outfit. On my nails, I went for a pale pink.

Last, I tied it all in with a nude pair of heels.

You can create this look with any pencil skirt, pants or jeans (any color) and keep the crisp white top and nude heels since they both go with everything. The white top is a nice fun staple for the summer and I love it because it is so versatile.

Midi Skirt Style

I love when fashion repeats itself. That’s what fashion is, right?¬†Many new¬†trends are just recycled old trends. It keeps things new and interesting. ¬†It’s fun to see what it was like to be a woman from a different time period and wear what she wore. This day and age fashion has repeated itself so many times you can pretty much wear anything and be ok. I love that because I like fashion from all decades. I like morphing into someone new. It is a form of creativity and a way of expressing yourself.

If you live in a place like New York, Paris, Milan or Los Angeles you could walk out in a potato sack and it would be considered fashion. People tend to express themselves more freely. That is why I love looking at blogs and sites where people do just that. See The Sartorialist, for example. I used to spend hours looking at this site before I had my blog. I still glance at it from time to time but now with Instagram there are so many fashion photographers around the world that I follow.

Introducing… The midi skirt.

This trend has been popular¬†for years¬†now, although you don’t see many wearing them. In fashion blogs, yes, but they are not common walking down the street. I believe this is because people don’t know how to wear them or don’t think they can pull them off. This skirt was prevalent in the 1940’s and attempted to make a reappearance in the 1970’s but didn’t work because people were just getting into¬†mini skirts.

With the midi, it’s best to wear¬†a form fitting or tucked in top¬†since the bottom half flows. If not, then you should cynch your waist with a belt. Or.. you can do both if you are¬†Olivia Palermo. ūüôā It should be higher up on the waist and fall between the knee and the start of your ankle. If you are on the shorter side, I would stick to one that is right at or just below the knee, not too much longer. If you are tall, any length will do!

I think an open toed shoe or pointy heel would look best although you can also pull off high boots, flats and a low  or high booties.

How would you style it?

This fashionista’s viewpoint on being of mixed race

When I saw this shirt listed on Rue La La, I immediately knew I had to purchase it. I am so sick of seeing in the news race this, race that, the white person did this, the black person did that, Muslims are responsible for this, Jews are responsible for that. When is this world going to realize that we are all the same? We are all the same race. One race; Human.¬†I grew up in the South during grade school and went to¬†a predominately white¬†school in the country. There were only¬†about ten¬†African American kids total.¬†I got to see first hand what hate looked like. I was not accepted by some whites and by some (outside of my school)¬†I was told I wasn’t “black enough” to be black. Kids were mean to me and called me names.¬†It was hard to understand when I was young but it only shaped who I am and¬†now I look back and only see one thing. Ignorance…. Small minds. I know now that the reason kids treated¬†people of¬†color differently and kids¬†who don’t look like¬†them differently¬†is because that is¬†what they were taught.¬†The responsibility lies on their parents.

My boyfriend is Puerto Rican and we are an interracial couple so I thought it would be nice to get both of us one of these shirts. Especially since we are an interracial couple. We get so many people looking and asking about it, where we got it and what a great statement it is (yes, sometimes we wear it together LOL). The shirt was made after the unfortunate shootings at the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal church in Charleston, South Carolina earlier this year. I wish it was still available for purchase so that many of you had the chance to get one. I may be recreating it and will let you know when I do. I love everything this shirt stands for. I also love that all proceeds from the sale of this shirt went towards non-profit organizations that help to bridge racial divides. See the full article here.

I appreciate being of mixed race. I appreciate my African American ancestry in the deep South, the countryside, the Baptist churches and down home cooking. I appreciate my French side, Moroccan roots, Hebrew school, French bread and camembert. ūüėČ I also love that I also have a little bit of Native American, Spanish and Italian¬†in me.¬†I love all that I have learned from both sides and that I am part of both cultures. It really is eye opening and probably sparked my interest of other races, cultures and customs. I love traveling and seeing how people live, what they eat, their daily pressures and viewpoints¬†and try¬†to live a day¬†in the life of them. What they find good, what they value, what pleases them. People should try to be more open minded about other people different from them and learn more about them.

Let’s not spread hate and pass it down¬†generation to generation; instead let’s¬†only spread and¬†teach¬†love. Lets work together and uplift and support one another no matter what we look like, what religion we are, how we were raised or where we come from.

I am in love with these new Converse All Star Chuck II sneaks. They are the most comfortable pair I own with the most amazing support (with the new Lunarlon footbed inside for ultimate support). White sneaks are so popular right now and you can wear them with skinny jeans, shorts, dresses, skirts, anything..

These ripped jeans are pretty comfy too and stylish. They are flattering and come in white too.

Target Style / Style on a budget – Day 4

Hello fashionistas, here is my last Target post for the moment although there will be many more. I wish I could post things a lot quicker! These are a cute comfy pair of shorts I bought at Target once again while coming for something else. I wore it with the bathing suit top from my prior post since it was a beach & BBQ kind of day. I see styles at target that I see elsewhere so I think they are trying as best as they can to keep up with the current trends.
